Parental Control

The Texas Legislature At Work

Texas State law now requires all Texas Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to link to blocking and filtering software sites. In 1997, during the 75th Regular Session of the Texas Legislature, House Bill 1300 was passed. HB 1300 requires Internet Service Providers to make a link available on their first world wide web page which leads to Internet "censorware" software, also known as 'automatic' blocking and screening software.

These are links to companies that sell blocking software or "censor ware." TXOL Internet does not endorse any of these products -- this section is provided to fulfill obligations of your ISP under Texas state law.

Widely used filtering and blocking software includes:

Net Nanny

This software allows the parent to control all access to the computer, not only Internet resources, but offline computer usage as well. Check this one out! For more info Net Nanny website.

This software gives the parent or other concerned individual the ability to limit their children's access to objectionable material on the Internet. Parents can choose to block, block and alert, or simply alert them when access is attempted to these areas. For more info CYBERsitter website.
