Internet Connection Failure

It happens! Your internet connection fails. Below are the steps to get your internet connection up and running. If none of these options work call (254) 629-3278 for Tech Support. Unplugging and plugging in cables most often will not fix your internet connection. Never unplug cables unless a TXOL Support Tech instructs you to do so. Most tech calls and/or onsite services calls result in finding that a customer has unplugged cables and plugged cables back in the wrong place! On site services calls where the customer has plugged the cables in wrong results in a service charge. TXOL only provides free repairs to our radio equipment only.

  • Most routers/wireless routers have an on/off button, some have reset button (DO NOT PRESS as it resets router to factory defaults). Locate the on/off button, power off 1 minute. After 1 minute power back on. Be patient some routers take longer to boot up than others.

  • Find the POE (Power Adapter) for the TXOL Radio. Should be near the router in most cases. On the top of adapter there will two network cables labeled Poe and Data/Lan, do not unplug these. On the bottom of the adapter there will be a power cord. Unplugged power cord for 5 minutes (adapter holds a charge for a short time). After 5 minutes plugged power cord in. Please be patient, not only does the radio have to boot up it has to retrieve network information upstream.

    Information/Tips

We are providing you with information to make your internet experience more secure, productive and enjoyable.

Below is list a of things that you can optionally do to make your internet experience more safe and reliable.

  • You get what you pay for. Free is not always free. Many sites that offer free services with a price. You agree to allow their advertisers provide you with advertisements. Sometimes these advertisements may contain Viruses/Trojans, even Facebook is not immune. If you are concerned about these security risks you can always purchase Malwarebytes as it has real time protection, it even blocks Ransomware, those you have seen in the news.
  • If you happen to access a site that is says that Microsoft (Or any other site) has detected your computer/device is infected, most often you can power off your device and the Trojan hasn't infected your device.
  • If use TXOL email services sometimes emails may contain attachments. If an email is from someone who never sends you attachments, you might want to contact them first to see they really sent the email to you. You may find that their email account has been hacked and/or someone is spoofing their email address.
  • The appearance of slow speed. Many sites can experience slow down during their peak times when a lot of users are connecting to their site(s). Many video services can have this problem as it takes a lot of bandwidth to provide streaming to millions of customers all at once.
  • Speed test sites are not all equal. Some set speed limit tests less than what you are actual speed is. Others give you options to test from certain locations. Some even allow you to test from Abilene, TX. While Abilene is closer of the larger cities, when it comes to being on the internet that is not the case. Due to routing networks Abilene is one of the furthest from Eastland Co. so it will almost always result in poor speed tests. Good Test Sites: Speakeasy.net Fast.com
